Verdict
Some users find it easy to read and annotate PDFs with, but a large share of recent reviews describe crashes, broken iCloud syncing, and trouble importing or saving files - problems that go beyond normal rough edges.
Best for
Someone who wants a simple PDF viewer for occasional reading and light markup, and who keeps files locally rather than relying on iCloud sync.
Dealbreaker
Frequent crashes, especially around saving, exporting, and scanning, plus reports that it doesn't work with iCloud files at all.

Where we recommend it
Apps nobody maintains any more ›Paid apps still on sale years after their last update.
Alternatives with the same rule.
Every app here is still for sale, still well reviewed, and has gone at least three years without an update. That is not automatically bad — some software is simply finished — but you should know before you pay. Also with a catch.

Verdict. A no-frills white noise app with a wide sound library and simple controls, praised for smooth looping and easy customization. A small number of reviewers report crashes or trouble opening it, which is worth noting given how few complaints exist overall.
Best for. Someone who wants to mix and layer ambient sounds for sleep without dealing with a subscription or a cluttered interface.
Dealbreaker. A handful of users report the app crashing or failing to open, so it's not flawless on stability.

Verdict. Reviewers praise the sound quality and simple interface, and a few note it's easy on battery life overnight. The review set is thin beyond that, so it's hard to say much about edge cases or long-term reliability.
Best for. Someone who wants a straightforward, no-frills sleep sounds app with a clean set of nature recordings and doesn't need alarm features.
Dealbreaker. At least one reviewer wanted to use these sounds as a morning alarm and couldn't, so this isn't built for that use case.

Verdict. Star Chart Infinite gets consistent praise for its realistic night-sky visuals and simple interface, and reviewers repeatedly call it worth the money. It hasn't been updated in a long time, and some reviewers on newer iPhones report crashes and stuck screens.
Best for. Someone with an older iPad who wants a visually striking constellation map for casual stargazing without worrying about future subscription charges.
Dealbreaker. The app hasn't been updated in years, and a few reviewers on newer iPhones (like the iPhone 14) report it crashing or getting stuck.
