Verdict
Noteful stands out on this list mainly for its pricing model: reviewers repeatedly single out the one-time fee and lack of paywalled features as rare in this category. It's an iPad-focused PDF markup and note app with iCloud sync, and the interface reads as clean and low-friction rather than feature-bloated.
Best for
An iPad note-taker who's tired of subscription-based apps and mainly wants PDF markup, handwriting, and iCloud sync without a recurring bill.
Dealbreaker
A small number of recent reviewers report crashes that weren't there before, so stability may have slipped in recent updates.
